Weddings at Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church
In a service of Christian marriage, a lifelong commitment is made and publicly witnessed and acknowledged by the community of faith. As a service of worship, the marriage ceremony is led by our pastor and is both a joyful celebration, as well as a holy time in which we make very conscious, very important promises to each other before God, our friends and family, and community of faith.
Weddings focus upon marriage as an expression of the Christian life and should reflect the integrity and simplicity thereof. Suitable music is encouraged to direct attention to God and express the faith of the church and is under the supervision of our Music Director Ted Gentry. Flowers, decorations, and other appointments must also be appropriate to an atmosphere of worship, enhance the worshippers’ consciousness of the reality of God, and reflect the integrity and simplicity of life.
